About Gyetanzip
Gyetanzip (계탄집, pronounced gye-tan-jip) opened in 2015 on a side street in Jayang-dong, Seoul, and has stayed in the same spot for twelve years. We never added dishes or chased trends. We spent twelve years on one thing: charcoal-grilled chicken galbi. That is why people searching for the best restaurants in Seoul, in Jayang-dong, and for great chicken galbi keep coming back.
700°C, direct oak charcoal.
We don’t use gas. Everything is grilled directly over oak charcoal (참숯). At 700°C the outside picks up a smoky char while the inside stays juicy, a flavor gas can’t produce. It is what twelve years of direct grilling taught us.
Prepared fresh daily: 100% Korean chicken thigh.
Fresh meat arrives every day and is brined the same day. We use only 100% Korean fresh chicken thigh, seasoned with sea salt and garlic juice to bring out its natural flavor.

Questions visitors ask
Is this the same as Chuncheon dakgalbi?
No. Chuncheon-style dakgalbi is stir-fried on an iron pan with vegetables and rice cakes. Gyetanzip grills boneless chicken thigh over oak charcoal, closer to Korean barbecue.
Which flavor should I order first?
Garlic salt shows the charcoal flavor most clearly. You can mix flavors by the serving, and the Gyeideuk set (₩51,000) includes all three.
How spicy is the spicy flavor?
About as hot as Shin Ramyun, so most visitors find it manageable. Garlic salt and soy are not spicy.
What are the opening hours?
Monday to Friday 16:00–24:00, Saturday and Sunday 12:00–24:00. Last order is at 23:00.
Can I make a reservation?
Yes, through Naver Reservation (Korean page; your browser can translate it). Without a booking, add your name to the CatchTable waitlist tablet at the entrance.
How much does a meal cost?
Chicken galbi is ₩15,000 per 230 g serving, and the Gyeideuk set for sharing all three flavors is ₩51,000. Fried chicken feet, vegetables, and soybean stew on the first table are free.
